The Name
Serkyem — The Golden Offering
Serkyem is a Tibetan word for a golden offering — a libation of tea poured first for the divine, for the guardians of the land, and for the honoured guest, before one takes a sip for oneself. It is an old gesture of gratitude and welcome, carried through the Himalayan hills that cradle Darjeeling.
We took the name because it is exactly how we feel about tea, and about you. Every leaf we choose and every cup we serve is an offering — and every guest we receive as we would the divine: worthy of the first pour and the finest leaf.
